Kinja'd!!!

At work, have a project to finish up, and wheel bearings to do when I get home. Can't get anything done because I can feel myself going Flowers For Algernon every time I look at the drawings in AutoCAD. This sucks.

Funny whine LH front on the W124, speed and wheel angle sensitive. Alignment is perfect. Figure it's probably a wheel bearing, and I need to at least make sure it's not possible, because if it goes, Bad Things happen. It *could* be tire noise transfer from my ghetto swaybar bushing fix, but it probably isn't.

I doubt it if it is angle sensitive. Could be a wheel bearing. Did you try and adjust it at all? I would repack and retighten and see if you narrow it down that way. But look at who I am telling that too :) you know

I've been into the bearings in front multiple times, and it's not loose, but probably could get pushed along with another repack. I did a partial repack a while ago. Problem being, the adjustment nut doesn't seem to have much more to go - I think they're just worn out - and I've let it "hum" for long enough it's probably seen some damage. Plus, bearings are cheap as hell, so repacking without a replace 400k miles in is not that sane.

oh yeah no doubt. If that adjustment nut is getting that close the bearing has seen it's use. Simple job doing them anyhow. Go for it so you have something to drive to maine
